K-ETA Required Before Entering Korea
– K-ETA application is required before entering Korea through the official K-ETA website: www.k-eta.go.kr or via the mobile K-ETA app. –
□ Starting from May 3, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ, Minister Park Beom-kye) will officially implement the Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) system after two years of preparation.
– Similar to the United States' ESTA system, K-ETA will be mandatory for travelers who are eligible for visa-free entry into South Korea. Travelers must apply online and receive approval by submitting personal and travel-related information prior to their departure.
* Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) systems are also in place in countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union, which plans to implement a similar system as of 2022.
